The mission of the Andrew Luck Book Club is to share some of the books I’ve enjoyed, and to build a continually-growing community of readers of all levels by engaging through social media.
The Andrew Luck Book Club is a forum for a book-reading community to grow through the love of reading. It’s as simple as that.
I often get recognized by my teammates and the media for my passion for reading. And it’s no secret that I enjoy sharing suggestions for books with my teammates, family and friends. So starting this online book club felt like a natural and really fun opportunity. AndrewLuckBookClub.com will be a platform for me to share my love of reading with an even larger audience. By using #ALBookClub on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, let's build a community of readers.
The idea was initially planted during an interview I did in February 2015 with the hilarious guys over at NBC Sports Network’s Men in Blazers who started in on me about my love of reading. Check out the interview and you’ll see what I mean.
Then, several months later, Kevin Clark from The Wall Street Journal wrote an article about me being the “NFL’s unofficial librarian” and we also noticed that from time to time, someone would post something using the hashtag #ALBookClub. We knew we were on to something fun.
Starting in April 2016, I’m going to introduce a book for the “Rookies” (younger folks) that I loved as a kid, as well as a book for the “Veterans” (more seasoned readers). We will use social media to check in with each other periodically about where we are in the books, post our thoughts, comments, questions and such. And every so often, I’ll host a Q&A on AndrewLuckBookClub.com so we can have a “live” discussion about the books. Keep an eye out for the upcoming online discussions on the home page and our social channels.
I plan to launch a book each for “Rookies” and “Veterans” in stages that correspond with the NFL schedule: off-season, mini-camp, summer training and pre-season. When the season starts, I plan to bring in guest athletes to take over my chair until after the Super Bowl.
It’s really simple, there is no sign up or log in. All you need to do is start following us on our social channels, find a copy of the current book we are showcasing on the home page and start reading. Engage with us on our social channels, use the hashtag #ALBookClub and participate in our live Q&A sessions, and we will go from there.
The Andrew Luck Book Club encourages people of all ages to read. However, the primary way to participate in the Andrew Luck Book Club is through the use of #ALBookClub on Facebook, Instagram and/or Twitter. In order to post on any of these social media platforms you must be actively signed in. All three of these services require users be at least 13 years of age. Occasionally, there will be live Q and A’s hosted at AndrewLuckBookClub.com, using a third-party service called Scribble Live. Each Q and A will require you have a Facebook or Twitter account in order to submit any questions. Again, both of these services require users to be at least 13 years of age.
